What do I need to know about choosing someone to install a flat roof on our home?
What is a reasonable price? Is an APPeX Johns Manville 12 Year APP Roof System a good choice? How much life can I hope to get from this roof? What are the most important questions for me to ask a potential roofer?

Flat roof membrane systems are fine. Make sure the contractor is LICENSED AND BONDED, as well as insured for liability and workmen’s comp.!!! Check references carefully. Contractors have a habit of starting a job, then disappearing for days at a time, your job strings on forever. Do not pay more than 1/3rd down, balance when job is completed satisfactorily. Check with your insurance company to see if anyone working on your house, if injured during job, is covered…IF NOT, get a copy of the contractor’s insurance and check with that company to make sure it is a valid insurance policy.

“goldwing 110083″ provided a very good answer. In addition I would look for a roofing contractor that has been in business for at least ten years. Many contractors only last a couple of years in business. If you have a warranty claim 5 years from now, it would be nice to be able to contact the contractor who did the original installation.
Good luck with your roofing project.
