I suffered some minor roof shingle damage during Hurricane Ike. I lost shingles that cover roughly a 3 ft. x 2 ft. section on the roof. Otherwise, no visible damage, no leaking or anything. What is a rough ballpark figure I should expect to pay so I know I’m not getting gouged or ripped off? There are a lot of roofers running around here trying to make a buck since this storm blew through Houston.

I forgot to mention that the shingle loss is right on the edge of the 2nd story of my home that isn’t easily accessible with a ladder (the 1st floor kind of juts out in front of it with an incline). The repair seems relatively simple to me but I fear that I would probably fall off the roof if I tried.

What would it cost for a new asphalt shingle roof for a one story house with 48 squares of roofing? The roofer will have to tear off one layer of alsphalt and one layer of wood shingles and put decking over the whole house. This is in Houston Texas after Hurricane Ike.
I am trying to get estimates. The roofers are so busy that even getting an estimate is difficult. I have calls into 15 different roof companies. The insurance adjuster has already been out and I am still waiting to get their estimate. I just thought someone might know what the cost was so I can at least have some idea when I do get a roofer to come out. My question is what is the cost?
