Hi there, we live in a ground floor flat (we own it) and the roof has started leaking in our bathroom. We are assuming that the flat above us’ toilet has overflowed. There’s nobody in and their landlord isn’t answering their phone. Is there anyway we can stop the leak without access to their flat? Also, will the landlord be liable for the repairs or will we have to claim on our insurance?

We live in apartment with 8 units. We had a flat roof but It was in bad shape. The landlords decided to put a regular slanted roof up, and began I’d have to say a month ago. There is only him and his hired man doing this project. Since the begining of this project, of course it has rained a lot and there are lots of old wounds that have reopened in the ceiling, causing all of us to scramble for towels and then battle for the washer and dryer available to keep up with this mess. Is there a time limit the landlords should have to carry on such a project. This is just beyond getting old
